Impact

As a social enterprise, Yiayia Next Door is a cause driven business inspired by first hand experience and established to ignite, promote and share the work being done to address family violence and, in doing so, serve the common good.

We are guided by our vision for an Australia where people experiencing family violence feel supported. Our mission is to support initiatives and people who inspire communities where people feel safe and neighbours connect and care.

Our plan is to donate up to 50% of funds to support initiatives and people who inspire communities where people feel safe, and neighbours connect and care.

  • While we are not set up as a not for profit with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, like other social enterprises, we initiate campaigns and products designed to intentionally tackle social problems and improve communities and that help support other not for profit organisations.

  • We are unique in the space of domestic violence as we approach the subject with kindness, compassion and a light heartedness that is grown from our firsthand experience with family violence.

Changemakers

We are committed to making positive change. Since our story was profiled in The Age in May 2019, our impact includes building awareness.

Gathering a growing community of 100,000+ people who have collectively become a movement who supports #lovethyneighbour and #bekindtoeverykind

Gifts of Kindness

To our community thank you! Together we have donated over $35,000 to help support the legends at Australian Childhood Foundation, Our Watch and Safe Steps.

Every donation helps us provide life-changing services to women and children escaping domestic violence. With your donation, these organisations can help ensure women and children at high risk are able to become – and stay – safe from family violence. Your donation will help us provide:

  • The creation of research and evidence to further primary prevention of violence against women and their children in Australia.

  • Emergency safe accommodation for women and children

  • Care packages for families in temporary crisis accommodation

  • Specialist support for children and pets

  • Safety measures and support for women planning to leave a violent relationship

Australian Childhood Foundation

Last year we reached over the fence to be ambassadors for the Australian Childhood Foundation and have partnered up with The GPT Group | Highpoint Shopping Centre to launch Christmas Acts of Kindness.

Acts of Kindness is a unique gifting experience for people of all ages to participate in. From 28th November up until Christmas 2020, Highpoint Shopping Centre provided local shoppers with the opportunity to support children who are receiving counselling from the Australian Childhood Foundation.

All of the money raised from the donations helped provide Christmas gifts and resources to these children and support services to help them overcome their trauma.

Carlton Respects

We joined Carlton Football Club in 2019 (and still present) as we pulled our socks up to promote gender equality for the prevention of violence against women. We are proud ambassadors of Carlton Respects program which is closely aligned with Our Watch.

Carlton Respects is the flagship community program of the Carlton Football Club that aims to educate the community about gender equality to prevent violence against women. Carlton Respects was to established in response to the alarming statistics around family violence in Australia, where on average one women is killed every week at the hands of her current or former partner. Research from Our Watch identified that sport has the capacity to influence, inform and shape attitudes about important issues, such as gender equality.

Polished Man by YGAP

One child dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence. Every October Polished Man challenge all men and women to paint their fingernails. Fingernails that spark conversations. Conversations that inspire donations. Donations that allow for trauma recovery and trauma prevention for children around the world, because it shouldn't hurt to be a child.

We joined a collective of ambassadors in 2019 and 2021 which raised over $1,833,482.24

to help end violence against children. Funds are channelled into some of the best trauma recovery agencies in the world including the Australian Childhood Foundation, SAMSN, Hagar Australia and the New York Center for Children.

In 2019 and 2021, our Instagram community raised $3,465 and 100% of funds were donated to ygap and donated to Australian Childhood Foundation.

Gifts of Kindness

With every purchase from our merchandise range, up to 50% of gross profits will be donated to:

A leading not for profit organisation, supporting children to recover from the trauma of abuse, neglect and family violence.

We thank you in advance for your support and kindness. Our mum loved to cook up a storm and we know that this is the ultimate legacy and tribute to the love she shared cooking for us, we now extend it to you too.
